Save As You Throw (SAYT)

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is testing a system called "Save As You Throw", to help decide if trash collection fees should depend on how much waste each household sets out. The program begins on June 26, 2025. Your neighborhood has been chosen for this project. As part of the program, you will get a trash cart from the County. You will also get a wheeled cart with a lid for recycling bottles, cans, jars, foil, and containers. Additionally, you will receive a separate wheeled cart for food scraps and compostable materials mixed with yard trim.
