The Babies Born Healthy (BBH) program provides essential care coordination services to pregnant Medicaid recipients living in specific areas of the county, including Silver Spring (White Oak, Hillandale, Wheaton, Aspen Hill) and Takoma Park. This comprehensive initiative is dedicated to reducing disparities in infant mortality rates within Black/African American communities. Support may include home visits, in-person and virtual classes, phone calls, text messages, and social media engagement. BBH focuses on prenatal education, depression screening, substance abuse prevention, intimate partner violence support, environmental safety, and much more.
To be eligible for BBH services, participants must be Black/African American, Medicaid recipients, and reside in the east and down county region of Montgomery County. Self-referrals are encouraged, and referrals are also accepted from healthcare providers, social service providers, and community members. There are no fees associated with the program.
