Vote by Mail Ballot Request

Vote by mail (VbM)ballots (which replaced absentee ballots) will be mailed on Friday September 20, 2024. The deadline to request a ballot to begin to be mailed is Tuesday October 29. Here are the ways to request a vote by mail ballot: online, see link below. The deadline to request a Web delivered ballot is Friday November 1 (web hyperlink in home page). However, if needed, voters can request a mail in ballot in person at the Board of Elections no later than 8:00 PM on election day. The Board of Elections is located at: 18753, Suite 210, N. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg, MD. 20879. The voted Vote-by-Mail Ballot must either be brought to the Board of Elections (BOE) office, polling place, deposited in designated Election Drop Box or mailed in. If it is placed in a designated Drop-Box, it must be placed in the Drop-Box prior to 8:00 PM on Election Day, November 5, 2024; If it is mailed, it must be postmarked no later than November 5, 2024. Voters can text CHECK to 77788 to see the status of their mail in ballot. Note: VbM must be submitted for each successive Election Cycle unless the voter opts to be placed on the permanent VbMail list.

Active-duty members of the Armed Forces, and their family members, or for U. S. citizens who are living outside the U.S. the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) may be downloaded from the Federal Voting Assistance Program website. It may also be obtained at any Military base or through any American Embassy or U.S. Consulate office. Registered voters who last resided in Maryland prior to departing the U. S. may vote a ballot issued by their former Local Board of Elections office in Maryland.
