The 2021 International codes were adopted by Montgomery County through Executive Regulation 13-24, and are effective as of December 10, 2024. This Executive Regulation adopts the 2021 International Building, Energy Conservation, Mechanical, Fuel-Gas, Residential Code, Swimming Pool and Spa Codes, and the 2021 Existing Building Code, with added Montgomery County amendments.

Customers may submit plans now, and request to be reviewed under the 2021 adopted codes, or reviewed under the 2018 International Code. All currently issued permits, or applications that are entered into the DPS system for permit issuance prior to March 31, 2025 will have the option to remain under the 2018 International Codes.
