The Short-Term Housing and Resolution Program (SHaRP) is a locally funded housing program designed to assist households who are exiting homelessness and moving into permanent housing. SHaRP is a referral-only program and applications are not available to the general public.
Eligible households must be referred to by a Montgomery County shelter, street outreach team, or other authorized homeless services provider. Referrals are reviewed based on program eligibility requirements and funding availability.
Selected participants may receive move-in assistance, including a security deposit and up to 12 months of rental support, based on final eligibility determination by the SHaRP Navigator and program requirements. The program is designed to help households successfully transition from homelessness into permanent housing and achieve long-term housing stability.
In addition to financial assistance, each participating household is assigned a SHaRP Navigator who provides light-touch case management, resource connections, housing stabilization support, tenant education, and regular check-ins throughout the period of assistance.
Because SHaRP is funded through limited local resources, assistance is available only to eligible households exiting homelessness and is subject to funding availability.
