When snow begins to accumulate, the Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Services, will first treat all main County arterial roads and emergency routes with salting and plowing, as necessary. Once the snow stops and arterial roads, emergency routes and primary roads are clear, crews begin plowing neighborhood streets. Progress in neighborhood plowing operations can be tracked on the County's "Snow Web Page" found on the County website.

The County is responsible for plowing County maintained roadways. If the unplowed street is maintained by the State (generally identified by Route numbers such as Rt. 355 - Rockville Pike or 270), please contact State of Maryland at 301.513.7300.
