Maryland law requires that the lender send a letter of intent to foreclose 45 days before the lender files a foreclosure action and that the notice must be sent by both certified mail and first-class mail. No matter what stage of foreclosure the resident is in however, it is imperative that they speak with a foreclosure prevention counselor.
