New County Towing Law Effective November 30, 2015

Montgomery County's new towing law, Bill 17-15, passed unanimously by the County Council and signed into law by the County Executive, took effect on Monday, November 30, 2015. The law is designed to address overly aggressive and predatory towing practices and restore regulatory balance in commercial and residential parking lots.

The Office of Consumer Protection licenses certain businesses including towing firms, investigates thousands of complaints each year involving automotive sales and repairs, new home purchases, home improvements, credit issues, retail sales, internet services and most other consumer transactions. OCP provides pre-purchase information to consumers, as well as speakers to the community on consumer issues.
