Tax Lien Sale Advertisement Fee Information

Update: April 23, 2020: The Tax Sale process will begin, at the earliest, 30 days after the state of emergency put in place by the Governor has been terminated and the proclamation of the catastrophic health emergency has been rescinded (COVID-19(. Penalties and interest may be waived?a date will be set for this if and when waivers are put in place. It is not likely that the advertising fee will be waived, as this is a direct cost of advertising delinquent properties in a newspaper?however, this may also change. Please keep checking for updates.

Delinquent properties are listed for four consecutive weeks preceding the Tax Lien Sale in a Montgomery County newspaper (in previous years the adds appeared in the Montgomery Sentinel newspaper) and are subject to a $50 advertising fee.

All property tax bills must be paid by April 30th of each year to prevent the property from being advertised in the paper.

Property tax accounts taken to Tax Lien Sale may be subject to additional legal costs that are incurred by the new tax lien certificate holder. More information about the Tax Lien Sale is on the County's website. Please click on the links below for further information.
