Snow Plow Blocked Driveway

The Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Services snowplows will not come back and clear a driveway if plowed in during normal street plow service. Unfortunately, there is little the snow plow operators can do to avoid "snow banking" at driveways, especially following a storm. Snow banking is an unintended and unavoidable consequence of a significant snow removal operation.

The County recommends that vehicles are parked in a driveway, if available. The plows perform a timely and complete service clearing snow from the streets if there are no parked vehicles to maneuver around. Unfortunately, there is little the plow operators can do to keep snow away from driveway entrances or parked cars. It is recommended that individuals shovel to the left side of the driveway (facing driveway).

If the road is a numbered route such as Rte. 355, 117, please contact Maryland State Highway at 301.513.7300.

A representative will investigate and respond to service requests within two (2) business days.
