Hearing and Vision Screening for Children

For immediate hearing and vision screening questions or if follow-up is indicated, parents or guardians should contact an eye care provider for a comprehensive eye exam or their health care provider. If there are no resources for an eye exam or no health care provider, contact the child's school health nurse for assistance finding resources in the community. A child's school nurse may be reached by calling the school health room.

School Health Services provides State required hearing and vision screenings for MCPS students in pre-kindergarten, Head Start, Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 8 and upon first enrollment. See link below for additional information from School Health Services about vision and hearing screening.

For private schools in the County who want to know about vision and hearing screening or equipment, contact the School Health Services main office at 240-777-1550.
