Medical Assistance Long Term Care (LTC-MA)

The Medicaid Long Term Care Program (MA-LTC) determines initial and ongoing eligibility for the MA-LTC program for Montgomery County residents living in nursing homes who need assistance in paying for their nursing home cost of care. To apply, go to link below for access to MDTHINK consumer portal. An application packet can also be mailed. Certain income and asset criteria must be met, as well as criteria regarding Maryland residency and citizenship requirements for U.S. citizens and non-citizens who have met the 5-year bar.

While customers do not have to be in a nursing home facility in order to apply, one of the criteria that must be met before benefits can be granted is that they reside in a facility. The Long-Term Care Medicaid office is responsible for explaining the complex federal and state program policies, including spousal impoverishment and asset spend-down, in addition to determining eligibility for the program. Online users may request an application packet or check the status of an application, by clicking on the Create Service Request button below. Please complete all of the fields in the Contact Information section then scroll down to the bottom of the page and provide a brief description of the request in the Brief Description field.
