HIV testing: Anyone age 13 or older can get a free HIV rapid test at our clinics or at a community testing event. You do not need insurance or a referral and do not need to be a county resident.
STI/STD testing: People who live, work, or go to school in the county and are 13 or older can also get tested for other STIs at a cost based on what they earn. No one is turned away because of what they can pay. We test for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and herpes (if you have herpes symptoms).
No insurance needed. Private insurance is not accepted, but you can use Maryland Medicaid or Medicare Part B. All testing is free if you are age 13-19.
No appointment needed for:
- STI testing if you don't have symptoms
- HIV rapid tests
- Free condoms/safer sex supplies
- Walk-in, Silver Spring: Mon-Fri, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
- Walk-in, Germantown: Mon-Fri, 8:30 AM - 4 PM
Appointment required for:
- STI testing if you have symptoms
- STI treatment
- HIV prevention with PrEP/PEP (see link for additional details)
To get tested, you will need to bring a photo ID and share your name, date of birth, and address. Photo IDs we accept include: driver's license, Maryland ID card, student ID card, passport/visa, consular ID, and military ID.
