Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS)

Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) establish energy efficiency requirements for all buildings covered by County law, most commercial and multifamily buildings 25,000 square feet and larger. These buildings must achieve interim and final performance standards by preset deadlines, or create and file a Building Performance Improvement Plan. Compliance with standards are based on and measured against each building?s demonstrated energy performance, as shown in their benchmarking data.
