Eviction, Notice to Vacate, or Court Summons for Eviction HHS

Applicants may be eligible to receive assistance in paying overdue rent if there is a court eviction notice (yellow paper from District Court) in hand. Plan to go to court at the date/time on the notice, even if you're asking for help with paying the arrearage. Note: A letter or "Notice of Intent to File" from a landlord or property manager is NOT an actual eviction notice or notice to go to court, meaning, the tenant should not leave the home. Such notification is required and the first step in the process prior to a landlord filing for eviction through the court. A tenant can only be evicted by a court order and in the presence of a Sheriff.
