The Montgomery County Flash Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) blue route is currently operating between Silver Spring and Burtonsville. The limited-stop BRT bus service will be extended to Howard County starting September 2026. The project will add four additional bus stops on the north end of the route in Howard County and provide service to these stops during weekday rush-hour periods. The four new Flash stations will serve downtown Columbia, Merriweather Drive, Maple Lawn and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
