Apply for office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) Check Status of New Application or Recertification or for Assistance with Utility Disconnection

The Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) administers a program to provide energy (electricity) ongoing assistance to Montgomery County residents who meet income guidelines. The office will also handle disconnections or intent to disconnect. An application is available on the website, click link below. Note: a copy of the disconnection notice is helpful to process applications more quickly (processing time varies) and to put a hold on an account.

Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) recipients (Public Housing or Housing Choice Voucher) must pay a utility expense to be eligible for OHEP programs.

The OHEP program is a mail in service: an application (with required signature and documentation as listed in the application packet) and can be dropped at the office or mailed in.

To obtain an application or drop off a completed application in person, go to the office at: 1301 Piccard Drive, Suite 4200, 4th floor, Rockville, 20850, during regular business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Fax: 240.777.4099. A drop box is located on the north entrance of the building.
