Reporting Downed Wires and Broken Cable Equipment

All residential complaints about downed cable wires in Montgomery County should be forwarded to TEBS/Office of Broadband Programs (OBP). TEBS/OBP Community Technology technicians will identify the issue, coordinate with the correct cable provider, and reroute the complaint if another department or agency is responsible. Pepco wires, or wires hanging from poles, should be reported to Pepco.

Online users can submit complaints about downed wires or open/damaged cable boxes using the Create Service Request button and should provide their name, address, phone number, and email. Additional addresses related to construction issues can be listed in the Brief Description field.

For downed wires on state roadways (which are numbered, such as 28 or 355), callers should contact State Highway Administration (SHA) at 301 513 7300. Any downed wires that present a hazard to the public should be reported by calling 911.

The Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) handles complaints related to cable service, billing, customer service, and franchise compliance. Users may file an OCP complaint via the provided link.
