Process to Record a Deed in Montgomery County

Recording a deed in Montgomery County is a two-step process. First, bring the deed to the County Transfer/Recordation Tax Office located at: 27 Court House Square, Suite 200, Rockville, for processing. Second, visit the Courthouse at 50 Maryland Avenue, Rockville 2nd floor Recording Office.

To change a name on a deed, a new deed must be submitted. Bring the new deed to the Finance Transfer Office (address above) for review and stamping, then it can be taken to Land Records in the County Courthouse (50 Maryland Ave #2120) for recording. They will charge a recording fee of $60.00 (payable by cash or check). Court Recording Office can be reached at 240.777.9470.
