Aiming for Zero Waste: Department of Environmental Protection

Montgomery County is updating its solid waste and recycling system as part of the Aiming for Zero Waste (AZW) initiative. The County Executive has proposed closing the incinerator and modernizing how materials are managed to ensure services remain environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost effective. A transparent, data driven process guides this works and supports the County's long term goal of a zero waste future.

To share information and gather public input, the County is hosting three open houses:

  • Monday, March 2, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. - Sidney Kramer Upcounty Regional Services Center, 12900 Middlebrook Road, Germantown
  • Wednesday, March 4, 6:00 pm to 8:30 p.m. - Isiah "Ike" Leggett Executive Office Building Auditorium, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville
  • Thursday, March 5, 6:00 pm to 8:30 p.m. - Virtual (Register on Zoom)
