Building Energy Benchmarking - Defined

Energy benchmarking is the process of tracking a building's annual energy use in order to use standard metrics to compare the building's performance against past performance and to its peers. Montgomery County's Benchmarking Law requires the use of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to input building operating information and annual energy use data and report to the County by June 1 each year.
