PFAS, commonly known as "forever chemicals," are human-made chemicals that have been used since the 1940s in products such as water-resistant clothing, nonstick cookware, food packaging, and firefighting foam. They do not break down easily and can remain in the environment for long periods.
Research suggests that long-term exposure to certain PFAS may increase the risk of certain cancers and may affect the immune system, cholesterol levels, and other aspects of health.
Public Drinking Water: Public drinking water meets all regulatory requirements. The County recommends all private well owners test their wells to ensure they are meeting drinking water standards.
