The Montgomery County Community Action Agency's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a year around free tax preparation service for residents of Montgomery County with an income of $69,000 or under. Tax season appointments are available from mid-January through mid-April at four locations: the Casey Community Center, 810 S Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877; TESS Center, 8703 Flower Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20901; Community Action Agency, 1401 Rockville Pike, Suite 320, Rockville 20852 and WorkSource Montgomery American Job Center, 11510 Georgia Avenue, Wheaton, MD 20902. Virtual appointments are also available on Fridays. Tax season appointments are for current year state and federal returns.
Post-tax season appointments are available mid-June through October. During the post-tax season, we prepare current year (2025), amended and prior year returns (2020-2024) in person at the Rockville location only, 1401 Rockville Pike, Suite 320, Rockville, MD 20852, every Tuesday and Wednesday. Virtual appointments are available on Thursdays.
