Friendship Heights Urban District

The Friendship Heights Urban District (FHUD) is a special area created by county code to provide enhanced landscaping, streetscape maintenance, marketing, promotions, safety and events for downtown Friendship Heights. The Urban District is managed by the Friendship Heights Alliance, a cross jurisdictional entity with Washington DC, comprised of residents and property owners.

The funding for enhanced services comes from a tax on commercial square footage, hotel rooms, and apartments. Members of the public can stay engaged and informed by attending the FHUD Advisory Committee meetings, which are open to the public. The committee is tasked with advising the County and managers on the administration of the district. Meetings times can be found by clicking link below or by calling 240-777-8200.
