Noise and Air Standards Related to Stand By Generators

Potential noise sources that can operate on a 24-hour basis, such as stand-by generators, are required to meet Montgomery County's more restrictive nighttime standard of 55 dBA (A-weighted decibels) at the nearest receiving residential property line. The ordinance does not recognize the term "emergency generator." Therefore, stand-by generators must meet the same standard as any other installation.
