Most full-time employees receive 3 days of personal leave at the beginning of each leave year. Employees who work part-time or begin employment after the beginning of the calendar year receive a pro-rated amount of personal days.
Personal days must be used in the calendar year in which they are received. Personal days do not carry over to the next year.
Additionally, personal days must be used as an entire scheduled day. They cannot be broken up into a comparable number of hours of leave. For employees who work 8 hour days, personal days must be taken in 8 hour increments. Employees may not, for instance, take 1 personal day as 4 hours of leave on 2 separate days.
In accordance with Montgomery Regulations Section 25-4 Employees in Transit Services or an operational unit that requires 24-hour shift coverage are granted one personal leave day and compensatory time instead of 2 personal leave days at the beginning of the leave year, based on the employee?s regular work schedule
