Child and Adolescent Assessment Services (CAAS) formerly known as Screening and Assessment Services for Children and Adolescents (SASCA), conducts confidential mental health assessments and screening for substance abuse for children up to age 18, who live in Montgomery County. Referrals are made for mental health and substance use treatment; substance use education and classes. Although CAAS does not provides psychiatric evaluations, the assessment does cover essential mental health areas (for example: questions are asked about suicidal and/or homicidal ideation or attempts; hospitalizations; medications; previous mental health treatment, etc.). Drug screenings are available for middle and high school age clients.
The Office is location at the Crisis Center, 1301 Piccard Drive, 1st floor lobby level, Rockville, MD. 20850. Office hours are: 12:00 Noon to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
