Monkeypox

Monkeypox (MPX) is a rare disease caused by the MPX virus. For complete information, including townhall meetings, please view FAQs (links below, scroll through page). The risk of MPX in the U. S. is believed to be low, and the disease does not spread easily between people.

The supply of vaccine is very limited, however, all requests for MPX appointments are being referred to the County's online preregistration form MPX page. Click on second link for access to form.

Residents who believe that they have been exposed to MPX should contact their health care provider or a community provider such as an urgent care center to inquire about testing.

Residents who are uninsured and experiencing symptoms or requesting MPX testing should be referred to the Disease Control office: 240.777.1755.
