Customers wishing to sell whole uncut fresh fruits and vegetables do not require a license. Any customer wishing to provide samples must obtain a Health Department license. Farmers who sell meat products must have their animals slaughtered at a USDA, or Maryland Department of Agriculture, approved plant. In order to apply for a farm or farmer's market license, an application must be completed and a list of foods provided, along with the location of where food is prepared offsite. Vendors who prepare non-potentially hazardous baked goods, jams and jellies under the MD Cottage Food Businesses do not need licensure unless sampling is to occur. Contact L&R for questions regarding requirements for food distribution without licensure under the MD Cottage Food industry. See web site to download an application, scroll to Farmer's Market PDF hyperlink.
