School Health Services

The basic services provided by School Health Services (SHS) include: first aid/emergency care; medication and treatment administration; case management of students with chronic health conditions; health promotion/education; and linking students to health care providers and other resources (physicals not provided). SHS provides a public health presence in schools to prevent and contain communicable diseases; assure that students are appropriately immunized; and respond to school and community-wide emergencies. Hearing and vision screenings (only) for school age children are provided. Some schools have School Based Health-Wellness Centers.

Medication that is taken by a student must be delivered to the school by the parent/guardian labeled by a pharmacist or in a sealed OTC container and with a health care provider's order. More information and links to school health forms can be found by clicking on link below.

For any questions, please contact the School Health Room Technician or School Community Health Nurse. Should there be additional questions or concerns that cannot be answered by the School Health Room Technicians or nurse in school, online users may submit a request by clicking on the Create Service Request button below. Please complete all of the fields in the Contact Information section then scroll down to the bottom of the page and provide a brief description of the request in the Brief Description field.
