On Thursday, September 20, 2018 between 2:15 - 2:30 PM, the Federal emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will be conducting a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system.
All WEA-equipped cell phones that are switched on, within range of an active cell tower, should receive the WEA alert. Some cell phones will not receive the test message, and cell phones should only receive the message once. The WEA alert will produce a distinct audio signal on your cell phone, which is followed by the text message pictured below. It is only a test, no action is required.
