A permit is required to install a retaining wall if the height of the wall measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall is 48 inches or more. The application packet must include two (2) copies of a site plan showing where the retaining wall will be located on the property. The purpose of the permit is to determine whether or not the zoning setback requirements for the location and height of the fence / retaining wall have been met.
