Montgomery County's Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) Program offers affordable rental MPDU units in apartment communities located throughout the County. Persons interested in the MPDU rental program must apply directly to the MPDU apartment community of their choice. The management company at the apartment community will give you an application, verify income and credit history, and determine eligibility or ineligibility based upon the established MPDU regulations for rental units. Each leasing office has their own application submission systems (online or in person); contact them for instructions. Note: Questions about approval or denial of an application should go to the apartment complex.
The MPDU Office does not maintain a list of current vacancies; it does not provide applications or a status of submitted applications; nor investigate complaints related to security deposit, rent increase, failure to pay rent; etc. even if the rental unit is an MPDU. Such complaints fall under the authority of the Office of Landlord-Tenant Affairs (OLTA) to investigate and not the MPDU office. Complaints related to maintenance or condition of a rental unit in Montgomery County are investigated by the Housing Code Enforcement Office regardless of any programs that units may be part of.
