Homeowners' tax credits appear on the tax bill, in the middle of the bill under the credit section. Credits can also be accessed on line (under credits). The credit amount will appear on the bill and be highlighted in red or separated by brackets. Credits are applied/subtracted from the original bill to the tax amount owed. When the credit is issued after the taxes are paid, a refund will automatically be issued.
Participants in the State and the County's Supplemental Homeowner's Tax Credit programs will not receive vouchers in the mail.
Taxpayers requesting a refund should submit a refund claim form to: Division of Treasury, 27 Courthouse Square, Suite 200, Rockville, MD. 20850.
Seniors age 70 and older with a single or combined income of $60,000 or less could defer property tax increases on their primary residence until the sale of their home.
