Although climate change is a natural phenomenon, there is general scientific consensus that emissions from human activities are contributing to accelerated climate change. In 2009, Montgomery County published its first comprehensive climate action plan. In 2017, Montgomery County declared a climate emergency and accelerated our climate goals to reduce GHGs 80% by 2027 and eliminate GHGs by 2035.
