As of February 1, 2012, the Department of Permitting Services (DPS) performs Fire Alarm Permit and Fire Protection System Permit inspections.
An inspection may be scheduled online by using the prompts on Permitting Services Online Services - Data Search (see link). The building permit(s) must be available to schedule an inspection. Enter the type of permit and permit number. On the "Schedule Inspection" tab enter the type and date of inspection and the contact ID number. If it is before 12:00 noon, select the date for the following day. If it is after 12:00 noon, then select the date for two days hence. The system will list the date of inspection, inspector name and telephone number and provide a confirmation number. Please provide a contact name and phone number for inspections for Fire Protection and Fire Alarm. NOTE: The inspector assigned at the time the inspection is scheduled may not be the inspector assigned to the inspection. Inspector's work assignment are scheduled each morning by 8:00 AM. For the most current schedule, customers should go to the DPS website, or contact 311 after 8:00 AM on the morning of the inspection to view the name and telephone number of the inspector that has been assigned the inspection/inspections for that day.
