Medicare-eligible retirees enrolled in CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield will be receiving new medical identification cards in mid-January 2026. All CareFirst members previously received new ID cards effective 1/1/2026. However, the previously issued cards were missing language relevant to Medicare-eiligible members: "If Medicare, waive copay." This has caused confusion with providers attempting to collect copays for Medicare-eligible members. CareFirst has revised the cards to include this language and mailed the revised ID cards to Medicare-eligible retirees.
