Community Development (CDBG) Public Service Grants

The Grants and Asset Management Section solicits, reviews, evaluates, and recommends funding up to $45,000 each to eligible non-profit applicants for activities serving low- and moderate-income County residents through an annual competitive application process. The section executes and administers contracts with successful applicants. Montgomery County receives approximately $5,500,000 in Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds annually. These funds are used for a range of activities including Capital Improvement Projects for neighborhood revitalization such as pedestrian safety linkages, streetscaping, and residential improvements in targeted low- mod-income areas, CDBG funds are also used to support affordable housing and group home rehabilitation. In addition, the County passes a portion of these funds through to the Cities of Rockville and Takoma Park , which each operate their own local CDBG programs.
