Head Start and Educational Opportunities for Children

The Early Childhood Office has information about key Programs for preschoolers who qualify based upon age and income. This includes but may not be limited to: Head Start/Pre-K programs for children aged 3 and 4 years. Early Head Start programs are from birth through age 3. Head Start/Pre-K programs are free preschool programs offered in the public schools. Child Care Support Services, Family Involvement Center (FIC) Parent Educators that offer circle time, story time, hands on art activities, music & movement, one on one parent sessions, and parent/caregiver discussion sessions. All libraries offer a calendar of story times and other free activities for young children accompanied by an adult. Some Montgomery County Local High Schools have a Child Development program where preschoolers can enroll for free during the school year. Contact the school directly or contact Montgomery County Public Schools Call Center at: 301.309.6277.

Head Start: If child is already enrolled in a Head Start Program, please contact the program for assistance. Parents interested in registering a child for Head Start may also consult with the program staff.
