Digital Permit Parking Program

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Division of Parking Management has begun a new online residential parking permit program. The new program eliminates the need for paper permits, makes the process of getting a permit faster and easier, and instantly provides permits for new vehicles and visitors. The system will be phased in as each Residential Permit Parking (RPP) area becomes eligible for renewal. Under the new program, residents will renew their permit annually at a cost of $20 each. No paper permits will be issued. Instead, license plate readers will determine if a vehicle has permission to park in the RPP area. If a resident purchases a new car or has a visitor, they can go online, enter the license plate number, and the car will immediately be recognized. By applying online, residents will get a nearly instant confirmation of their digital permit.
