Ride On Kids Ride Free Program

The fiscal year 2020 County budget includes funding to expand the Kids Ride Free program to all day every day. Effective July 1, 2019, K-12 student residents can ride any Ride On bus free by showing their school ID or Youth Cruiser SmarTrip card to the bus operator. Youth Cruiser SmarTrip cards can be obtained for free (starting June 16, 2019) at any County library, the Silver Spring TRiPS store, the mobile commuter store, select schools, and the Treasury office, if you bring proper identification for the child. Please visit the link below for additional information on the Kids Ride Free program.

A grace period beginning October 1, 2019 which requires all student riders to use the Youth Cruiser card for free rides will continue to accept school IDs. There will be an announcement 30 days prior to having the Youth Cruiser card being mandatory. Students are encouraged to obtain and use their Youth Cruiser pass.
