Under the COVID-19 Renter Relief Act, landlords are prohibited from:
Increasing their tenants' rent after April 24 and during the COVID-19 emergency by more than 2.6%
Notifying their tenants of a rent increase of more than 2.6% during the COVID-19 emergency and for 90 days thereafter;
Landlords who notified tenants at any time during the COVID-19 emergency (signed March 5, 2020) of a future rent increase of more than 2.6% must tell tenants to either disregard that notice or reduce the amount of the increase to no more than 2.6%;
Landlords who previously notified tenants of a rent increase of more than 2.6% that would take effect during the COVID-19 emergency but after the date of this legislation, must tell tenants to either disregard that notice or reduce the amount of the increase to no more than 2.6%.
