Respect the Space and Disability Parking Signs

Under the county's "Respect the Space" initiative, the Montgomery County Office of Human Rights (MCOHR) is working jointly with other county agencies that handle disability parking to help ensure that the signs and marking for disability parking spaces comply with the state of Maryland's Accessibility Code and Public Safety Code. The goal is to ensure that parking lot managers know their legal obligations. Individuals having a problem with disability parking may contact the MCOHR to conduct an intake interview in an effort to find out if landlord/business is required to provide handicapped parking, or if existing signs and marking do not comply with legal requirements.

Online users who have additional questions and would like to be contacted by a departmental staff member may submit a request by clicking on the "Create Service Request" button below. Please complete all of the fields in the "Contact Information" section and provide a brief description of the request in the "Brief Description" field.

MCOHR does not issue handicapped hang tags, parking permits, or enforce handicapped parking violations.
