As most County facilities will be closed on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday, the County has designated five sites in the community for cooling centers. Cooling centers are places for residents to come indoors and cool off. Other County services typically provided at the locations will not be available, including weight rooms, game rooms, and gymnasiums.

- East County Community Recreation Center (3310 Gateshead Manor Way, Silver Spring), 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center (4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase), 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center (1319 Apple Ave., Silver Spring), 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Upper County Community Recreation Center (8201 Emory Grove Road, Gaithersburg), 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Wheaton Community Recreation Center (11701 Georgia Ave., Wheaton), 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Residents concerned about the well-being of a homeless individual may call the 24-hour Homeless Information Line at 240.907.2688. Outreach partners will attempt to locate the individual and offer resources and support.
