Scrap Metal Pick-Up Request

Residents receiving Montgomery County provided recycling collection may have scrap metal items collected as part of their regular recycling service. Scrap metal items are any large item that is 51% or more metal that is too big to fit in a trash can or trash bag. Examples include bikes, grills, household appliances etc. For a list of acceptable and unacceptable items, please click on the link below.

Refrigerators/freezers must have the doors secured, shut or removed. Lawn mowers: Fluid must be drained and spark plugs and batteries must be removed.

Residents must schedule scrap metal collections in advance with the County. The collection will be made between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM on the resident's recycling collection day. All items must be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on the day of collection. To schedule a scrap metal collection, confirm you have County provided recycling collection service. Then, make an itemized list of all of the items to be collected. Scrap metal requests must be submitted by 11:59 PM the day before the regularly scheduled recycling pickup day by either calling 311 or scheduling online. Residents wishing to cancel an existing scrap metal request need to call 311 by 7:00 PM the business day before their collection day.
