Community Development Block Grants

The Community Development Division solicits, reviews, evaluates and recommends funding up to $45,000 each to eligible non-profit applicants for activities serving low- and moderate-income County residents through an annual competitive application process. The division executes and administers contracts with successful applicants. Montgomery County receives approximately $6,000,000 in Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds annually. These funds are used for a range of activities including: Capital Improvement Projects such as pedestrian safety linkages, streetscaping, and commercial building facade improvements in targeted areas, the Single Family Rehabilitation Program and the Group Home Rehabilitation Program. The County also passes a portion of these funds through to the Cities of Rockville and Takoma Park , which each operate their own local CDBG programs.
