COVID-19 Temporary DHCA Housing Inspection Protocol for Interior Complaints in Response to COVID-19

Housing Code Enforcement staff have resumed limited exterior inspections during the county's reconstitution of worksite services.

DHCA will triage urgent MC311 service requests to determine actions needed. Staff from Housing Code Enforcement will respond by phone or email to MC311 callers in order to assess the situation and explain the timing of any further actions or inspections. Some actions or inspections may not be immediately forthcoming based on the nature and severity of the issue.

All pre-existing housing inspection "Notices of Violation" (NOVs) are being reviewed and updated, and new NOVs will be mailed soon with new compliance dates. These new timelines will be determined once DHCA housing inspectors resume normal operations. Any scheduled interior inspections have been postponed due to the COVID-19 situation. Once DHCA moves to expanded code inspections, contact will be made to set an inspection schedule.

DHCA Code Enforcement is beginning interior inspections as outlined in the Interior Inspection Procedure for Foster Care & Adoption and FDA?s, health and safety on a case by case basis.
