Obtain a Tax Clearance Certificate

A Tax Clearance Certificate is a document from the County Department of Finance certifying that all County personal property taxes have been paid. For businesses that are in forfeited status, a tax clearance certificate may be issued after all due taxes are collected. A Tax Clearance Certificate request may be submitted by fax at: 240.777.8947, by mail or in person at the Division of Treasury located at 255 Rockville Pike, Suite L-15, Rockville, MD 20850. All requests must include contact name, phone number, tax account number and email information.

The tax clearance certificate is one requirement of the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation to reinstate a business entity that is "not in good standing" or "forfeited".
