Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Transport Insurance Reimbursement

Beginning January 1, 2013, the EMS Transport Insurance Reimbursement Law authorizes Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service to seek reimbursement for ambulance transports from private health insurance companies, Medicare, or Medicaid. County residents will never receive a bill or pay a co-pay, deductible or any out-of-pocket expenses.

Patients who receive a check from their health insurance for services provided by Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service should forward the check to: P.O. Box, 824756 Philadelphia, PA 19182-4756

The County has contracted with a billing vendor, Change Healthcare Practice Management Solutions Inc. (recently acquired by Optum) based in Alpharetta, Georgia, to handle all EMS reimbursement billing. The company may contact individuals who were transported by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service if they need additional information in order to file a claim with the insurance companies.
