Automated External Defibrillators or AEDs

Maryland State Law mandates the installation of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in certain public venues, including schools, swimming pools, and select restaurants and grocery stores. Beginning January 1, 2025, designated grocery stores and restaurants are required to have an AED situated in a prominent, accessible location for the use of both employees and customers.

The law also stipulates that these AEDs must be properly registered, maintained, and utilized. Registered AEDs are maintained by the owner or the person registering the device
